Topstep Brokerage Octagon
Official Competition Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: October 20, 2026
These Terms and Conditions (these “Terms”) govern participation in the Topstep Brokerage Octagon (the “Competition”), a promotional trading Leaderboard (defined in Section 4) competition offered by Topstep Brokerage LLC (NFA ID: 0567079), a registered introducing broker and member of the National Futures Association (“Topstep Brokerage,” “Sponsor,” “we,” or “us”). Participation in this Competition is not automatic — eligible participants must affirmatively opt in as described in Section 3. By opting in, each participant (a “Participant”) agrees to be bound by these Terms.
1. Relationship to Other Topstep Entities
Topstep Brokerage LLC is a separate, affiliated entity from TopstepTrader, LLC and TopstepFunded LLC, which operate the simulated Trading Combine, Express Funded Account, Topstep Labs and Live Funded Account programs and the separate “Topstep Octagon” competition offered to Live Funded traders. This Competition is offered solely to holders of Eligible Accounts (defined in Section 3) and is not affiliated with, and does not affect eligibility for, any prop-firm Octagon competition or any other Topstep program.
Each Eligible Account is a brokerage account introduced by Topstep Brokerage and carried and cleared by Plus500US Financial Services LLC, a futures commission merchant registered with the NFA. Futures accounts are not protected by the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC).
2. Nature of the Competition; Real Customer Funds
Participants in this Competition trade their own funds in an Eligible Account. Nothing in this Competition, these Terms, or any related marketing communication should be read as encouraging any Participant to trade more frequently, take on additional risk, or alter their trading strategy in order to improve their Leaderboard position or chances of winning a prize.
Participation is entirely optional and has no effect on trading commissions, margin requirements, order routing, or any other term of a Participant’s brokerage account agreement.
3. Opt-In Enrollment (Required)
Enrollment in this Competition is by affirmative opt-in only. To become a Participant, an eligible Topstep Brokerage customer must:
- Hold an active Topstep Brokerage account in good standing which has a balance of at least $1,000.00 as of the start of the Competition Period (defined in Section 6) (an “Eligible Account”);
- Affirmatively opt in to the Competition through the Topstep Brokerage dashboard or another Sponsor-designated enrollment mechanism; and
- Acknowledge and consent to the Leaderboard Display Consent set forth in Section 4 below.
A Participant who does not opt in will not be entered into the Competition, will not be displayed on the Leaderboard, and will not be eligible for any prize. A Participant may withdraw consent and opt out of the Competition at any time by completing the form found at topstepbrokerage.com/topstep-brokerage-octagon-opt-out; withdrawal will remove the Participant from the Leaderboard and end further eligibility for prizes, effective as of the date the withdrawal is processed, but will not affect prizes already awarded.
4. Leaderboard Display Consent
By opting in, each Participant expressly acknowledges and agrees that Topstep Brokerage may publicly display, for so long as the Participant remains enrolled and for a reasonable period after the close of each Competition Period (defined in Section 6) (and in any case at least 60 days), the following information in connection with the Competition leaderboard (the “Leaderboard”):
- The Participant’s first name and last initial (e.g., “John D.”); and
- At Sponsor’s discretion, a flag or other graphic indicator of the Participant’s country of residence or account registration.
No other personally identifiable information (including account numbers, account balances, full legal name, email address, or precise location) will be displayed on the Leaderboard. Participants who do not wish to have this information displayed should not opt in or may opt out at any time in accordance with Section 3. This consent is separate from, and in addition to, the data-use permissions described in Topstep Brokerage’s Privacy Notice, which continues to govern Sponsor’s collection and use of Participant information generally.
5. Eligibility
Participation is limited to natural persons who are at least eighteen (18) years of age, who hold an Eligible Account, and who are not residents of a jurisdiction where participation would be prohibited by law. Employees, officers, directors, and agents of Sponsor and its affiliates, and their immediate family members or household members, are not eligible. Individuals located in jurisdictions subject to U.S. sanctions or listed on OFAC’s Specially Designated Nationals list, or any similar governmental list, are not eligible. Sponsor reserves the right to determine eligibility in its sole discretion and may require identity verification prior to enrollment or prize payment.
6. Competition Period and Ranking
The Competition will run in successive monthly (or other Sponsor-designated) periods (each, a “Competition Period”). Ranking on the Leaderboard during each Competition Period will be determined by total monthly (or such other Sponsor-designated period) profit and loss, calculated from the start of the applicable Competition Period. Sponsor reserves the right to determine the ranking methodology, adjust it between Competition Periods, and resolve any disputes regarding ranking in its sole discretion.
The Leaderboard resets at the start of each new Competition Period. Rankings from a prior Competition Period do not carry forward.
7. Prizes
Prizes for each Competition Period will be as described in the then-current Competition promotional materials. Prizes are not guaranteed and are subject to verification of eligibility, continued opt-in status through the end of the applicable Competition Period, and compliance with these Terms, Sponsor’s Terms of Use, and all applicable brokerage account terms. Sponsor reserves the right to adjust, withhold, revoke, or disqualify a prize if it determines, in its sole discretion, that a Participant has violated these Terms, engaged in prohibited conduct as described in Section 11, or is otherwise ineligible.
Prizes will be credited to the Participant's Eligible Account or paid by another Sponsor-designated method. Prizes may constitute taxable income and are subject to Section 12 (Taxes).
8. No Investment Advice; No Guarantee
This Competition, these Terms, and any related communications are provided for informational and promotional purposes only and do not constitute investment, legal, or tax advice, nor an offer, solicitation, or recommendation to buy or sell any futures or other financial product. Sponsor does not guarantee that any Participant will achieve any particular trading result, ranking, or prize. Futures and Security Futures trading involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for all investors. Past performance, including any Leaderboard ranking, is not indicative of future results.
9. Modifications; Termination
Sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Competition, these Terms, prize amounts, ranking methodology, or eligibility criteria at any time, with or without notice, except as required by applicable law or regulation.
10. Regulatory Compliance
The Competition and these Terms are subject to all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, including applicable exchange, NFA and CFTC rules. This Competition is operated by Topstep Brokerage LLC and is separate from, and not sponsored or administered by, TopstepTrader, LLC or TopstepFunded LLC.
11. Prohibited Conduct and Disqualification
Sponsor may deny, withhold, revoke, or reverse any prize, remove a Participant from the Leaderboard, and disqualify a Participant from the Competition if Sponsor determines, in its sole discretion, that the Participant has engaged in fraud or misrepresentation; used multiple, duplicate, or nominee accounts; engaged in coordinated, matched, wash, or other non-bona fide trading, including trading between accounts intended to influence Leaderboard ranking; used automated systems or third parties in a manner not permitted by the Participant’s brokerage account agreement; or otherwise violated these Terms, Sponsor’s Terms of Use, or the terms governing the Eligible Account.
A Participant who fails to complete identity verification, or who fails any compliance screening required by Sponsor or Plus500US Financial Services LLC, will be disqualified. If an Eligible Account is closed, restricted, or ceases to be in good standing during a Competition Period, the Participant will be removed from the Leaderboard for that Competition Period and any prize not yet paid may be withheld. Disqualification from the Competition does not affect the Participant’s rights under the Participant’s brokerage account agreement.
12. Taxes
Each Participant is solely responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes, and any other costs or expenses, arising from the receipt or use of a prize. Sponsor will report the value of a prize to taxing authorities and issue tax forms to the Participant where required by applicable law, and each Participant agrees to provide any information reasonably necessary for Sponsor to satisfy those obligations, including a valid Taxpayer Identification Number and a completed Form W-9 or Form W-8, as applicable. Failure to provide such information may result in forfeiture of the prize.
13. Privacy and Communications
By opting in, each Participant consents to Sponsor’s collection, use, storage, and processing of personal information, including identity verification data, for purposes of administering the Competition and in accordance with Sponsor’s Privacy Notice. Participants acknowledge that Sponsor, TopstepTrader, LLC, and Plus500US Financial Services LLC may communicate with them by email, SMS, postal mail, or other lawful means regarding the Competition, account status, prizes, and other products or promotions. Participants may opt out of such communications to the extent permitted or required by law; provided, however, that administrative communications reasonably necessary to administer the Competition, the Eligible Account, and delivery of a prize are required, and refusal of those communications may result in ineligibility to the extent permitted under applicable law.
14. Publicity and Release; Limitation of Liability
In addition to the Leaderboard display consent described in Section 4, each Participant who is awarded a prize grants Sponsor and its affiliates the right, but not the obligation, to use the Participant’s name, likeness, image, voice, photograph, social media handle, biographical information, and any statements attributed to the Participant for advertising, marketing, promotional, and publicity purposes, in any and all media now known or hereafter developed, worldwide, without further notice, review, approval, or compensation, except where prohibited by applicable law or regulation. To the fullest extent permissible under applicable law, each such Participant waives any right to inspect or approve such use and releases Sponsor and its affiliates from any and all claims arising out of or relating to such use, including claims for invasion of privacy, violation of the right of publicity, defamation, or false light.
Each Participant agrees to release and hold harmless Sponsor, Plus500US Financial Services LLC, their affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, associated persons, and agents from any and all liability, claims, or causes of action arising out of or in connection with the Competition, the Leaderboard, or any prize, except to the extent caused by the gross negligence or willful misconduct of such released parties. None of the released parties will be responsible for delays, failures, or errors arising from technical malfunctions, communication or platform outages, ranking or data errors, unauthorized human intervention, or any other cause beyond their reasonable control. Nothing in this Section limits or modifies any obligation of Sponsor or Plus500US Financial Services LLC with respect to a Participant’s brokerage account under the applicable account agreement, CFTC or NFA rules, or other applicable law, or limits any liability that may not be limited under applicable law.
15. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms, and any disputes or claims arising out of or relating to the Competition, will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. All such disputes must be brought individually, and not as part of any class or representative action, in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois, and each Participant expressly consents to the jurisdiction of such courts. Nothing in these Terms limits any right a Participant may have to pursue arbitration or reparations before the NFA or the CFTC to the extent available under applicable rules, or affects any dispute resolution provision of the Participant’s brokerage account agreement, which continues to govern disputes relating to the account itself.
16. General
These Terms, together with Topstep Brokerage’s Terms of Use and Privacy Notice, constitute the entire agreement between each Participant and Sponsor with respect to the Competition. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
For additional information, see Topstep Brokerage’s Risk Disclosures Statement.
